Magento PWA Technical Innovation

The implementation of Alokai (formerly Vue Storefront) marked a decisive step in the new architecture of Cresus’s eCommerce platform. This PWA headless layer created a secure and modern frontend while keeping Magento as the operational backend, ensuring stability during a period of transition. By adopting this buffer strategy, Cresus was able to improve customer experience immediately while preparing the foundation for a future migration of backend systems and business tools to Magento 2.

From the very first configurations, focus was placed on building a robust server infrastructure and creating custom APIs to enable seamless communication between the Alokai frontend and the Magento backend. This modular approach also made it possible to connect other services developed for Cresus, such as watch trading tools, price algorithms, and alert systems, without disrupting the unified customer interface. The result: a single, seamless user experience, even though multiple backends are working behind the scenes.

The redesigned interface enhanced both desktop and mobile responsiveness, improving ergonomics and usability. Predictive search, powered by Doofinder, was integrated to simplify product discovery through intelligent keyword suggestions, offering a faster and more relevant browsing experience for customers.

Core areas such as the homepage, product listings, and product detail pages were optimized, while navigation was fully restructured with a refined header, footer, enriched menus, and dynamic sliders. These enhancements translated into significant performance improvements, reducing load times and boosting engagement metrics across all devices.

Performance optimization was a constant priority, from infrastructure design to frontend ergonomics. Dedicated development and pre-production environments were set up to support continuous testing and quality assurance before the production launch. This ensured a smooth rollout with minimal risk.
